UK New Immigration System
The United Kingdom has implemented a point-based UK new immigration system.
Free movement inside the European Union (EU) came to an end on December 31, 2020, and new arrangements for EU nationals are in place. Irish citizens can continue to enter, reside, and work freely in the United Kingdom.
Procedure for obtaining a visa to qualify for the UK New Immigration
For applications to work, reside, and study in the United Kingdom, new immigration avenues have opened.
You may apply for a visa and pay for it online.
You’ll be prompted to give your biometric details when you apply. This is how it’s done:
Citizens of the European Union, the European Economic Area, and Switzerland
Most visas need a digital photo of your face taken with a smartphone app. You will not be required to submit your fingerprints.
For certain routes, you’ll need to get your photo taken at an international visa application center.
Non-EU residents
At an overseas visa application center, you’ll continue to provide your fingerprints and a photo.
Workers with specialized knowledge
A pathway for qualified individuals with a job offer from an approved company sponsor is included in the points-based system.
The job you’ve been offered must have a necessary skill level of RQF3 or above (equivalent to A level). You must also be able to communicate in English and be paid the appropriate wage threshold by your sponsor. The general salary threshold of £25,600 or the going rate for your employment, whichever is higher, will be used.
If you earn less than this – but no less than £20,480 – you may still be eligible to apply by ‘trading’ points on certain qualities against your pay.
If you have a job offer in a shortage occupation or a Ph.D. related to the position, for example.
The additional details document contains information on how the points system works. UK New Immigration.
There is no one-size-fits-all solution for companies looking to hire at or around the minimum wage.
You should apply immediately to the UK New Immigration program if you aren’t currently a licensed sponsor and want to sponsor migrants through the skilled worker route.
