Officer demoted after Ok-9 died from warmth exhaustion after being left in automobile

LIVINGSTON, La. (WAFB) – The deputy who left a Ok-9 in his unit earlier this 12 months has been disciplined.

“Within the incident involving the loss of life of Ok-9 officer Ivar, the deputy was demoted leading to a big discount in pay,” based on Sheriff Ard.

The Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Workplace reported the reason for loss of life has been decided for a Ok-9 deputy that died in August.

Sheriff Jason Ard stated the loss of life of “Ivar,” a five-year-old Ok-9 service canine, was resulting from warmth exhaustion after he was by accident left in a deputy’s automobile.

WAFB has requested LPSO for the id of the officer and to specify the precise nature of the self-discipline handed down. The company has refused to establish the officer concerned, citing that it’s the sheriff’s coverage to not disclose inner disciplinary motion nor title the deputy concerned.
