The final chief of the Wildrose Occasion is planning a return to provincial politics.
Brian Jean introduced on Fb Wednesday that he plans to hunt the United Conservative Occasion nomination in Fort McMurray-Lac La Biche, a seat left vacant when Laila Goodridge made the profitable leap to federal politics within the 2021 election, turning into the Member of Parliament for Fort McMurray—Chilly Lake.
Goodridge gained her seat in a byelection when Jean resigned his seat in 2018, saying he wanted to spend more time with his family.
Jean, 58, was the final chief of the Wildrose Occasion when it merged with the Progressive Conservatives to kind the UCP.
Jean ran for management of the UCP however was defeated by present Premier Jason Kenney. In asserting his bid to run within the byelection, Jean referenced Kenney’s waning popularity.
“You spoke and I listened,” Jean wrote in his put up. “One thing should be performed or Rachel Notley will win the following election with an awesome majority. That can be unhealthy for Alberta.”
Previous to getting into provincial politics, Jean served as MP for the Fort McMurray area from 2004 to 2014.
A date for the byelection in Fort McMurray-Lac La Biche has not but been introduced.
