93-year-old London, Ont., runner breaks Canadian report, reveals no indicators of slowing down

A 93-year-old runner broke his personal Canadian report Sunday morning, finishing 5 kilometres in 26 minutes and 30 seconds.

Canio Polosa flew over the end line at Springbank Park in London, Ont., as a part of the Halloween Haunting race. 

His earlier Canadian Masters Athletics report for his age group was 5 kilometres in 37 minutes and 41 seconds.

“Till the subsequent time,” Polosa stated to CBC London’s Rebecca Zandbergen after the race. 

 

Polosa, who stands 5 toes six inches tall and weighs 113 kilos, began operating at age 60. The retired physician practiced inner medication and taught at McGill College on the time. 

At 80, he took a break from operating to relaxation his knees. That break proved to be short-term when he laced up his trainers as soon as extra in his 90s.

 

Polosa stated he runs with the assistance of knee braces his spouse bought for him.

He was in good spirits after Sunday’s race, and he even joked about bettering his method for races 10 to twenty years down the road.
